3 Feb 03 (6 Hours)There was quite an heavy overnight snow. Luckily I'd taken the day off. Spent 2.5 hours fully welding the seams, managed to get just over a third of the way through before the MIG gas ran out. The book
says that you can use the old Escort roof to make the floor. It seems that
this is another example of being "Ron -ed" because the roof isn't
large enough to manage the whole floor! Spent ages cutting of the old brackets from the back axle. Striped down one of the Cortina hubs and then used "the tool" to clean the hub (Available from Screwfix, part number 13451 for £9.99 at time of typing- click here). The change in appearance is dramatic. Finished off the day by giving the hub a coat of red oxide primer. 10 Feb 03 (2 Hours)Started cutting the first of the 19mm diameter bracing tubes (TR4). Also used "the tool" to clean up the top wishbones and one of the bottom wishbones. Undercoated the wishbones with Red lead primer and painted one off the hubs bright yellow. 17 Feb 03 (30 minutes)Applied second coat of Red Lead to the wishbones and another coat of yellow on the hub. 24 Feb 03 (1Hour 30 minutes)Painted the wishbones black. Spent quite a bit of time changing the wire on the Mig welder to gasless wire (because of the leak on the welder.
