5 May 02
Visited Stoneleigh kit car show. Purchased 2 hotdogs, 1 chicken burger, 2
cups of tea, 2 goes on the bouncy castle and a kitchen clock! Didn't manage to
find any bargains, but at least my wife and kids had a good time.
7 May 02 (4 Hours)
Several trips to the local tip to get rid of the seats and doors. Still
waiting on getting the shell moved. Managed to start cutting to the tubes for
the new chassis. Managed to cut B1, B2, A1, A2, D1 & F1.
11 May 02 (3 Hours)
Hired a transit Luton box van. With the help of 3 friends, lifted the remains
of the donor shell in to the back and dropped it off at the a local scrap metal
merchant.
13 May 02 (1 Hour)
Tided out the garage now that the shell is finally gone. Cut D2 & F2.
15 May 02 (1 Hour 30 Minutes)
Cut C, E, G1, G2 & J1
29 May 02 (1 Hour)
I've not had much spare time recently, but managed to get some Argon for my
welder (thanks Graham & Alan). Spent about an hour practicing welding.
30 May 02 (2 Hours)
Drew the chassis on the base board. Test fitted the tubes for the bottom
section of the chassis and fitted small lengths of wood to the board to keep the
tubes in place whilst welding. Tack welded A1 & A2, B1 & B2, C, D1 &
D2, E, F1 & F2. At last it looks like I've started to build a car rather
than just scrapping an Escort and cutting some tubes!
